What's New > Creative Green Tools - Phase II
The Creative Green Tools were created by Julie's Bicycle.
They are widely used in the UK and other parts of Europe, and are recognized globally as the gold standard for carbon footprinting tools that serve the arts and culture sector. Climatable is adapting them so they can be used all across Canada.
Timeline
Phase I - Research and Consultation (April 2020 - April 2021) :
With the generous support of the Canada Council for the Arts, the Quebec Drama Federation (QDF) tested the feasibility of adapting the innovative Creative Green Tools to the Canadian context. They did this by carrying out a year-long research and consultation process involving members of the arts sectors from across the country. The process included:
-
Consultations with 44 arts organizations representing every province and territory in Canada – representing a range of different organizational structures and artistic disciplines – to determine the needs of intended users;
-
Pilot testing of the Tools with 23 user organizations to assess user experience and functionality of the online platform;
-
Development of a methodology for adapting the tools to the Canadian context, with expert review; and finally,
-
A published feasibility report (available for download in English and French) based on the above activities that will help to guide the development and implementation of the Creative Green Tools in Canada!
Completing this rigorous research and consultation process allowed the QDF to confidently progress forward with the next steps in a way that was clear, equitable and sensitive to the demonstrated needs of the Canadian arts and culture sector.
Phase II - Development and Implementation Planning (April - December 2021) :
In partnership with the QDF, we are using the lessons learned in Phase I to develop the online platform for the Canadian Creative Green Tools!
In this phase, we are:
-
Developing the Canadian Creative Green Tools online platform in accordance with the needs of the arts and culture sector that were identified through research and consultation
-
Creating an implementation plan that will act as a roadmap to effectively training, educating and supporting members of the sector to use the Tools
-
Carrying out a national, multi-disciplinary Indigenous engagement strategy with the help of Naheyawin to ensure the implementation plan meets the needs of Indigenous communities
-
Preparing the sector to use the Creative Green Tools once they have been launched by spreading awareness
