Job Description / Duties

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Managing costume use for rehearsals and performances;
• Managing costume storage at Company warehouse;
• Updating paperwork for all Company ballets and keeping a detailed costume inventory & photos;
• Supervising and assisting all pre-tour costume load-ins and load-out s in venues, from warehouse and studio;
• Supervising theatre wardrobe personnel;
• Assisting with costume load-in, setup and load-out;
• All performer Costume fittings including Local Participants while on tour;
• Ensuring costumes are in good condition/working order and performing Costume repairs/alterations as needed;
• Assigning dressing rooms;
• Ensuring adequate supplies for emergency repairs and maintenance are taken on tour;
• Laundry;
• Taking costumes to and from dry cleaners;
• Keeping detailed notes on costumes and venue wardrobe facilities and saving/filing notes appropriately;
• Managing costume rentals;
• Driving production vehicles and dancer vans including 16’ box cube;
• Assisting with all performance/event load ins and load outs and from the Ballet Jörgen warehouse and studio space as necessary;
• General studio/storage upkeep;
• Costume tracking, organization, upkeep and disposal as needed;  
• Overseeing in studio costume use and storage;   
• Local and in-studio performance assistance as needed;  
• General Warehouse upkeep.  

Qualifications / Required Skills

Requirements
• Good knowledge of costume repair and cleaning techniques a must;
• Experience as a qualified seamstress in a professional setting and prior theatrical dance costume experience a must;
• Class G Ontario Drivers Licence or equivalent a must;
• Valid passport a must;
• Self-motivated, able to work independently while also being a part of a small team and possess good organizational and time management skills;
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal;
• Knowledge of wig maintenance an asset;
• Must be able to handle stressful situations and deadline pressure while ensuring accuracy
• Work will include evenings and weekends;
• French an asset;
• Touring experience an asset.

Additional Information

Ballet Jörgen’s 2024-2025 season will include tours of Anne of Green Gables – The Ballet, The Nutcracker, and Sleeping Beauty. Touring will take place across Canada.

Contract Length:
October 7, 2024 to May 11, 2025 (Expected)

Hours:
Up to 46 hours/week

Salary: $1,050/week

The Wardrobe Supervisor will oversee all areas of wardrobe for Ballet Jörgen, including fittings, alterations, repairs, inventory, organization and laundry.
