Job Description / Duties

• Assisting in the creation of new costumes and the alterations of existing costume stock for performances.
• Assisting in setting costumes up for performances, dressing for performances and in costume maintenance.
• Coordinating and tracking of footwear on loan from the shoe bank.
• Execute the building and maintenance of the rehearsal tutus and character skirts for sale to NBS Students
• Provides support for Wardrobe Supervisor in dealing with NBS Staff and students when Supervisor is off site and in fittings

Qualifications / Required Skills

• Degree or equivalent in Theatrical wardrobe including but not limited to patterns adaptation, cutting,
• Assembly of new garments and ability to alter existing garments.
• Minimum two years professional wardrobe experience
• Working knowledge of garment construction and pattern grading and cutting. Knowledge of pattern drafting, dying of fabrics and accessory building an asset.
• Knowledge of the care and maintenance of costumes.
• Ability to operate industrial sewing machines, sergers and cover seamer.
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment with excellent time management skills to meet project deadlines,
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse community.

Additional Information

Successful candidates must supply Canada’s National Ballet School with a Police Reference Check in accordance with the School’s Child Abuse/Sexual Abuse Prevention Policy; this will be coordinated through the Human Resources Department of NBS.

Salary: starting at $22.14/hr
