Job Description / Duties

• Welcoming and directing patrons to the correct or preferred seat location;
• Handing out programs and other materials as assigned;
• Assisting patrons during emergencies; being familiar with emergency evacuation procedures and exits;
• Preparing the theatre to open, ensuring all fire exits are clear, theatre spaces, washrooms and lobby is clean and all hazards are removed.
• Assisting with audience entering and exiting the theatre, assist with wayfinding to seats and washroom facilities, answer other building and performance related questions;;
• Resetting the theatre and lobby after performances have finished (picking up programs, resetting arm rests, sweeping the lobby, reporting any broken seats or cleaning issues to Front of House Manager);
• Assembling programs, setting up tables, chairs, linens, etc. for events;
• Other related duties as required and assigned.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Minimum secondary school diploma; Post-Secondary education in Theatre or a related field is a definite asset;
• At least 1 year of experience in theatre, retail, or other customer service related position;
• Ability to work well with others in a team environment;
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
• Customer service skills to interact with patrons, donors, parents, and the wider community;
• Self-starter with effective problem-solving skills;
• Ability to stand for long periods of time; work schedule may include evening and/or weekend shifts;
• Smart Serve Qualification, understanding of AODA customer service standards are definite assets;
• First Aid/CPR certification, as well as training and/or experience working with children would be considered an asset.

Additional Information

Successful candidates must supply Canada’s National Ballet School with a Vulnerable Sector Check in accordance with the School’s Child Abuse/Sexual Abuse Prevention Policy; this will be coordinated through the Human Resources Department of NBS.
