Job Description / Duties

SUMMARY
This position’s primary responsibilities are to operate technical production services for (indoor/outdoor and offsite) and external users at Aurora Town Square (excluding library facility).

As with all positions at the Centre, technicians will be required to be flexible, punctual and possess excellent customer service skills. This position will require multi-tasking and liaising with other technical staff team members on a variety of projects.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Execute technical production requirements for events as directed by PM/TD including but not limited to:
- Load in, operation, load out, hang and focus, manage stage equipment etc
- Work as a stagehand
- Set up, troubleshoot and operate sound/lighting/audio visual equipment
- Audio Requirements: Operate DiGiCo S series console and other mixing consoles. Event operation includes but is not limited to live music, dance, theatre, spoken word, amplified music.
- Lighting Requirements: Program and Operate ETC ION Xe 12K console. Set up, hang, and focus lights for events including dance, music concerts, theatre.
- Technicians may be required to operate both light and audio consoles on smaller events.
- Operate livestreaming mobile hub equipment
- Proficiency with PTZ Cameras and Blackmagic equipment is considered an asset
- Operate a 20’ personal lift for focusing lights
- Equipment inspection, perform preventative maintenance, and repair
- Recommendations for replacement of equipment
- Work alongside the Front of House Staff and rental clients
- May serve as the primary liaison for event related vendors
- Supervise the safety and service of the production space when required (e.g. when conditions are hazardous – crowded, dark, moving elements etc)
- Ensure best practices for proper and quality customer service to all patrons and clients of the Aurora Cultural Centre and Aurora Town Square
- Complete comprehensive show reports as needed
- Assists with evacuation procedures in the event of a fire alarm or other emergency.
- Other duties as required.

The staff of the Centre work in a team atmosphere and as such all employees of the Centre may be expected to step beyond what is regularly thought of as their own duties to assist members of the team as required.

Qualifications / Required Skills

REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience
- Technical training through a college diploma/program in theatre production or equivalent recent experience within the last 3 years.
- Minimum 3 years experience in a professional environment or equivalent work experience
- Experience working in a multi-venue environment with both professional and community presenters is an asset.
- Experience with a variety of event types (Music, Theatre, Dance, Corporate) is an asset.

Skills
- Lift certification (within 3 months of start date)
- Fall protection certification (within 3 months of start date)
AED training
- Ability to focus, sustained concentration, physical and repetitive manual dexterity, and physical effort may be required. - Lifting required. Occasional heavy lifting in excess of 50lbs may be required.
- First Aid and CPR-C training

Additional Information

We will be hiring a minimum of 2, possibly up to 6 technicians who can work on a rotation to cover events in multiple venues within Aurora Town Square. A criminal record search will be required of the successful candidate that is acceptable to the Aurora Cultural Centre.

Salary: $30 per hour
