ROLE STATEMENT

Position Title: Bartender/F&B Associate
Department: Hospitality/Site Operations
Reporting to: Manager, Hospitality and Business Sales
Works with: All departments’ campus wide, including tenants, partners, artists, preferred caterers and food truck operators.
Salary/wage: $14/hour
Part-time: Varies (Daytime, Weekends & Evenings)

SUMMARY OF FUNCTION

The Bartender is part of the Site Services team, and will play a key role in assisting with the organization of all bar services campus wide. Reporting to the Manager, Hospitality and Business Sales, the position offers the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary arts institution.

The Bartender is responsible for assisting with all bar service, and hospitality offerings at Harbourfront Centre, specifically at our 2 theatres, Fleck Dance Theatre and Harbourfront centre Theatre. Bartenders will ensure the overall readiness and cleanliness of Theatre Bars and related auxillary bar services including managing inventories, stock, and offering exemplary customer service to our patrons.

Theatre and Auxiliary Bars
• Assist Head Bartender, providing and maintaining a consistent service, inventory control and COGS
• Stocking all areas with product and ensuring staff are keeping appropriate par levels as per Head Bartender
• Assist with the overall readiness and cleanliness and maintenance of venues and related food and beverage services and equipment
• Assist with lobby receptions and coordinate with the FOH manager or AHM on all F&B aspects

Artist and Staff Hospitality
• Assisting the coordination of food and beverage for artist hospitality within Harbourfront Centre’s guidelines including room set up and execution of service campus-wide
• Assist with Staff hospitality coordination for various staff and volunteer events including Town Hall meetings, Holiday and summer staff appreciation events and celebrations

Work Health and Safety (WH&S)
• All members of staff are required to take reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of other personnel (including volunteers and interns) who may be affected by their conduct

Daily Requirements
• Job requires strong verbal communication skills in dealing with public and VIP guests
• Job requires alertness, attention to detail and visual perception
• Sales recapulations, Cash deposits and other end of day functions at all bars
• Performs general maintenance duties such as checking and hanging fluorescent bulbs, laundering bar towels and skirtings, steaming skirtings, cleaning and dusting mirrors and shelves.
• Transfers bar products between Harbourfront Centre bars to update their respective inventories.
• Ensures that bars are appropriately stocked by estimating stock requirements in the upcoming period and placing timely orders.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the industry AGCO guidelines regarding alcohol sales, and an understanding of Harbourfront Centre and its venues
• Assist in the maintenance and control of all service items, such as linens, glassware, and equipment
• Assist with the overall inventory controls, and organization of product on the Harbourfront Campus

Qualifications / Required Skills

Education& Experience

• 2+ years Bartending experience in a theatre or high volume setting
• Restaurant serving experience preferred
• Smart Serve certified
• Experience with F&B POS systems
• Knowledge in mixology is an asset

Working conditions

• Job involves heavy lifting and working with tight deadlines
• Job can involve periods of overtime during festival/theatre runs
• Work schedule varies, mainly evenings and weekends
