Job Description / Duties

The School of Performance at The Creative School is seeking to recruit a Technical Director who will act as a lead hand to ensure the efficient operation and maintenance of equipment and facilities to support the technical operations of the School of Performance.
This role provides technical assistance and recommendations to faculty, industry professionals and instructors in classes/labs, including providing technical advice to students with respect to their theatre activities/production, monitoring the progress of production work, coordinating the technical needs of students based on curriculum, and assisting faculty in the preparation and presentation of technical course materials.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Completion of a post-secondary diploma program in Theatre Technical Production; lighting, sound, carpentry, rigging, props and paint, health and safety, and theater administration.
A minimum of 4 years of relevant technical working in theater or a related field.
Experience working as a Technical Director in the live entertainment industry.
Good working knowledge of theatre technology in order to provide technical support and expertise to students and faculty.
Knowledge of CAD.
Analytical skills.
Strong written, oral communication, and presentation skills, with strong attention to detail.
Interpersonal and relationship management skills.
Knowledge of budget and inventory planning.
Organizational project and event coordination skills.
Strong organizational skills, Interpersonal and relationship management skills.
