Job Description / Duties
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Head Carpenter, the responsibilities include but are not limited to those normally associated with a similar position in other professional Canadian theatre companies. The Scenic Carpenter will work with the rest of the carpentry team to:
• Assist with indoor and outdoor seasonal site preparations and season strike activities
• Work with carpentry team to build all scenic elements for repertory season
• Work with the carpentry team to fit up, load in, changeover and strike sets for all shows throughout the summer repertory season
• Ensure that health and safety policies and procedures are met at Blyth Festival worksites.
• Other duties as assigned by the Head Carpenter, Technical Director or Production Manager.
Qualifications / Required Skills
REQUIRED SKILLS:
• Training and experience in scenic carpentry
• Strong and motivated work ethic
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Experience working with power tools
• Strong team player
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Comfort working on ladders (A-frame and Extension)
• First Aid and Working at Heights are required (Festival will assist with certification if necessary)
• Valid G Driver’s License an asset
Salary: $977/wk + 4% vacation pay

Blyth Festival productions take place on two stages in the village of Blyth, Ontario: the Margaret Stephens Stage at Blyth Memorial Hall, a municipally owned 379-seat indoor theatre, and the Harvest Stage – a permanent, purpose-built outdoor theatre, seating 348 people, surrounded by trees and playing to audiences under the Huron County skies.
In 2025, the Blyth Festival will produce a repertory season of four Canadian plays (2 world premieres) on the Margaret Stephens Stage, and one stand-alone production on the Harvest Stage.
The Blyth Festival production facilities include a 12000 sq ft, fully equipped carpentry, paint, prop and wardrobe shop, as well as office space, storage and rehearsal studio.
