Job Description / Duties

The Shaw Festival is currently looking for a Props Builder to work in our Properties Department. This is a seasonal contract position from Early January to end of May, 2025 with possible extensions and yearly contracts. This position reports to the Head of Properties and Assistant Head of Properties.
The position requires an individual with 4+ years of demonstrated Props building experience, particular knowledge of the periods within Shaw Festival’s programming would be an asset. Our Props Builder will be required to be trained and practiced in carpentry, paints and finishes, soft props, mold making, metal work (would be considered an asset) and positively contribute to the overall working environment of the Prop Shop.

Qualifications / Required Skills

In addition to having an excellent practical skill set, a successful candidate must be able to work under pressure, with attention to detail, have good people skills and an eagerness to learn new techniques. A positive attitude and a good sense of humour are always welcome.
