Job Description / Duties
monstrARTity is currently seeking applicants for the freelance consultant contract position of Festival Director, with availability from May 2, 2022. This position will support #BollywoodMonster Mashup, the largest South Asian festival in Canada and rated the #1 festival at Mississauga Celebration Square.
Born in 2011, monstrARTity is an award-winning, Mississauga-based incorporated not-for-profit organization, filling systemic cultural and economic gaps in underserved diverse communities via festivals, interactive workshops for youth & seniors, artist mentorship and youth employment programs.
* This position is a combination of remote work, team conference calls and meetings in Mississauga. Meetings are currently being conducted virtually due to COVID-19. This will be modified according to provincial and Peel Public Health guidelines.*
DUTIES
Pre-production:
- Setting strategic direction and resource allocation for festival’s fundraising, programming and marketing teams to meet organization’s strategic plan
- Ensuring festival’s fundraising, programming and marketing teams' budgets, high-level calendars and external contracts are planned accurately by those responsible and according to funding and grant restrictions
- Analyzing feedback, ROI data and recommendations reports from past seasons to ensure improvements are actioned
Production:
- Coordinating with Lead and Specialist roles on the festival’s fundraising, programming and marketing teams to ensure timely actioning of tasks
- Maintaining proactive communication on behalf of festival team with organization’s other programs
- Ensuring festival’s fundraising, programming and marketing teams' budgets, high-level calendars and external contracts are executed accurately by those responsible and according to funding and grant restrictions
Post-production:
- Developing and improving on best practices for festival’s fundraising, programming and marketing teams to meet organization’s strategic plan
- Ensuring festival’s programming, marketing and fundraising teams' budgets, high level calendars and external contracts are reconciled accurately by those responsible and according to funding and grant restrictions
- Proactively ensuring feedback from key stakeholders, audience surveys and participant surveys is gathered and assigning actions based on programming team’s recommendations reports
Qualifications / Required Skills
DETAILS
- Freelance contractor position
- Earliest start date: May 2, 2022
- Perks: Remote work and flexible hours
- Term: May 2 - Nov 30, 2022. Contract renewing annually.
- Compensation: $50,000-$70,000 per annum, negotiated based on experience and time commitment
- Must be able to make mandatory weekly team calls (Tuesdays), team meetings in Mississauga and stakeholder meetings in the Greater Toronto Area as required*
- *Meetings are currently being conducted virtually due to COVID-19. This will be modified according to provincial and Peel Public Health guidelines
- Must have access to own laptop and phone
