Job Description / Duties
4th Line Theatre, an outdoor theatre company located in Millbrook, Ont., is currently
looking for a Costume Designer for The Housekeeper.
Start: Spring 2025
Opening night: July 3, 2025
Remuneration: $3500 fee (non-Union) or IATSE: Local ADC659 rates (Union)
Responsibilities of this position will include:
• Liaising with the director about creative concepts, establishing the look and feel of the production and its characters, deciding what each character wishes to convey through their clothing (time period, setting, status/social class, age, geographic region, etc.)
• Working closely with the director, stage manager and performers
• Design and create and oversee the purchasing of costumes and accessories for the production
• Coordinate a small team – Assistant to the Costume Designer, Costume Builder & Wardrobe Manager
• Attending production, planning and other meetings and notes sessions as required, respond to show reports
• Keeping records of the designs and samples of materials for use in revivals or other productions
Qualifications / Required Skills
• The successful candidate will be creative, curious and passionate about theatre and historical costuming and have the ability to work in a team environment
• Must have extensive sewing/building skills and is able to work well under pressure
• Must have strong organizational skills
• Experience managing a small team an asset
• A valid Ontario Driver’s License and clean driving abstract are required
• A car is a requirement
• Must enjoy working outdoors
