Job Description / Duties
Reporting to the Office Coordinator, dispatchers refer casual workers to various employers on a gig-to-gig basis. Terms and Conditions of employment vary from employer to employer, as do job titles and job descriptions. Dispatchers use the Local’s dispatch database to match workers to gigs based on skillset and seniority, as well as maintain and update this database.
Dispatch is a highly dynamic work environment with tight time constraints. Dispatchers must remain cool, organized, and effective in a high-pressure work environment. They manage conflict, and dissatisfied workers and employers, while upholding the Local’s policy and procedures. Under normal circumstances dispatch operates 12 hours a day, every day of the week. Occasionally urgent situations will extend those service hours. Dispatchers will work shifts of up to (8) hours in length and may work on weekends or holidays as needed. Due to the dynamic and urgent nature of crew calls, dispatchers will be provided opportunities to eat a meal but may need to remain on duty throughout their shift. Applicants should also be prepared to work remotely or in the local’s office as required.

All shortlisted applications will demonstrate:
● Legal entitlement to work in Canada
● Professional comportment with excellent client service skills and tele-communication presence
