Job Description / Duties
Duties:
Reporting to the Technical Director for all daily matters and the Director of Production for all human resources matters, this position works closely with members of the production and design teams focusing on the daily operation of the production department, including helping realize mainstage productions, special presentations, and second stage production/rentals. Duties include:
-Supporting the Production Department, particularly the Technical Director and Director of Production, in the efficient management and operation of the department;
-Assisting in producing and maintaining CAD drawings (AutoCAD and Vectorworks), rigging plans, production schedules, and other production paperwork as assigned;
-Creating, modifying and/or interpreting various technical drawings;
-Assisting in scheduling and supervising house and casual crew for the timely and successful advancement of productions;
-Maintaining production based inventories and asset tracking not overseen by other departments;
-Assisting in establishing the labour requirements for lighting, sound, wardrobe, and scenic elements for productions as assigned;
-Acting as a supervisor for the IATSE 295 house crew and casual technicians as required;
-Researching, planning, and implement production elements;
-Providing support and co-ordination for Second Stage events and activities;
-Various other production tasks as assigned by the Director of Production and Technical Director;
-Evening and weekend work is required for this position.
Qualifications / Required Skills
Required Skills:
-A collaborative, creative, and strategic thinking individual with experience in theatre production and technical equipment

-Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills
-Ability to switch focus and juggle competing priorities and requests
-Positive attitude
-Comfortable working in dynamic and collaborative deadline-based environments
-Ability to work with diplomacy and tact with a wide range of stakeholders
-Knowledge of theatrical rigging, lighting, sound, video, scenic/props construction, costume construction, scenic paint, and/or special effects.
-Proficiency in drafting with CAD (AutoCAD and/or Vectorworks)
-Familiarity working alongside unionized crew would be an asset
-Strong knowledge of office software (Outlook, Word, Excel)
-Class 5 Saskatchewan driver’s license with clean abstract.
-Ability to lift heavy objects, such as in and out of a pickup truck.
-Available to work evenings and weekends when required.
Qualifications that would be an asset:
-Post-secondary education in a technical theatre program (or equivalent).
-Prior experience in a Project Management or Arts Administration role would be an asset.
-3+ years of work experience in professional theatre.
-Experience working in a team-based collaborative environment with a positive attitude towards delivering high-quality presentations.
-Prior experience in the setting and/or upholding of safety standards in the venue.
-Familiarity with cloud-based office systems (such as Microsoft SharePoint).
Additional Information
Additional Information:
This role will be a full-time seasonal position averaging 35 hours per week with any overtime banked. It will require occasional weekend and evening work, as well as some weeks in excess of 35 hours throughout the season.
Conditions may include working alone, working at heights, working with and around power tools and power equipment, lifting in excess of 50lb, use of stairs, driving of company vehicles (owned and rented), and working in low-light environments. Occasional travel outside of the city may be required.
Compensation:
Salary Range: $1,000 per week, paid bi-weekly based on a 35 hour work week
