Job Description / Duties
Each Haunt will require the skills of an Assistant Haunt Technician. The Assistant Haunt Technician will assist with the haunt assembly and the effects contained under the direction and collaboration with the Lead Haunt Technician and the Technical Direction team.
Key Accountability:
- Ensure that the technical elements of the haunt are built as designed and with the intent of delivering an immersive customer experience.
- Monitor their Haunt and act upon safety and risk hazards.
- Participate in safety haunt walkthroughs and resolve safety and risk hazards.
- Notify the Lead Haunt Technician and Technical Director of concerns or issues as they arise.
- Collaborate with park personnel as well as Set Design & Construction Contractor regarding safety hazards and risk management.
- Document the haunt, and ensure that it is well stored for future use.
- The Assistant Haunt Technician is encouraged to make creative recommendations to the Technical Director but may not alter the services as described by Fort Edmonton Park.
Responsibilities:
- Attend table reads and training
- Assist in installation of any required Audio, Lighting, Video and other Special Effects under the direction of the Lead Haunt Technician
- Assist in training Scare Managers and Scare Actors on any practical effects they will be using or interacting with
- Ensure efficient event execution and support the event team where and when required.
- Follow the chain of command and safety procedures in the event of an emergency.
- Reports any concerns to the Technical Director, Production Manager
- Is accessible on radio and responsive to radio calls
- Participate in the disassembly and storage of the haunt material and props.
- Provide post - event quality improvement feedback.
Qualifications / Required Skills
- One years experience in a technical role in a theatrical, film or festival setting.
- Maintain a positive attitude, especially while working under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple projects with tight deadlines.
- Ability to read technical drawings in Vectorworks is an asset.
- Knowledge of theatrical lighting, audio, video and special effects.
- Knowledge of pneumatics is an asset.
- Skill in soldering is an asset
- Confident in troubleshooting, creative problem solving, and research.
- Self-motivated and able to work effectively independently, and takes direction well.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Holds a valid class 5 driver's license.
Additional Information
Sept 9 - September 22: Prep and Install:
Up to 40 hours per week;
Typical hours of work will be Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm
September 23 - October 3: Install and Rehearsals:
Up to 60 hours per week, some evenings and weekends will be required.
November 4 - November 15: Strike
Up to 40 hours per week;
Typical hours of work will be Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm
Salary: $24 - $26 per hour
