Job Description / Duties

Description:
The Technical Director is responsible for overseeing all technical aspects of the production, including but not limited to load in, building the set, focusing lights as per the design, programming lighting cues, supervising Audio Engineer and Carpenter, ensuring our crew and local crew get proper breaks, communicating with Production Manager and Producers on any issues or inefficiencies the production may have.

Duties:
- Oversee and execute all technical aspects of the production in each venue
- Efficiently lead a crew in execution of load in, focus, and load out.
- Understand and able to work with a variety of crew IE: local, union, non-union etc.
- Communicate with Production Manager on matters of potential overtime, scheduling conflicts/changes, logistics, company conflict
- Up hold the best practice of health and safety standards
- Advise on technical needs
- Produces technical paperwork as necessary 
- Ensure all production elements are delivered on schedule and mindful of budget (crew overtime and breaks, economically using tools and consumables, handling equipment properly to avoid damages)
- Contribute to the ongoing conversation about development of the production, with a particular focus on equipment purchases, efficiencies and general better practices

Qualifications / Required Skills

- Technical theatre understanding and professional experience 
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively 
- Strong understanding of Lighting
- Someone who is organized, hardworking and a team player
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Strong project management skills.
- Understanding of driving a trailer is an asset
- Valid G license is an asset
- Uphold respectful and professional mannerism with co-workers and local crew

Additional Information

Start and End Date: May-June 2023 with potential Fall 2023 Canadian tour

Location: Ontario
