Job Description / Duties
We are currently seeking an experienced Technical Director to join our committed team. Reporting to the Arts & Culture Division Manager, the Technical Director is responsible for the administration and coordination of the technical services of the Cowichan Performing Arts Centre and the Arts & Culture Division, which are services owned and operated by the CVRD. This exempt position is responsible for: supervising unionized Assistant Technical Directors and casual technical staff; advancing shows with our clients; and budgeting, coordination, and maintenance of all technical requirements relating to the Cowichan Performing Arts Centre and the Arts & Culture Division.
Qualifications / Required Skills
The successful candidate will hold a university degree or diploma from a community college in Fine Arts specializing in stagecraft and theatre technical skills and have a minimum of five (5) years of related experience in all disciplines as a Theatre Technician with three (3) years’ experience as a Technical Director, preferably in a unionized setting. Experience supervising technical staff, a Class 5 BC Drivers Licence, and Occupational First Aid Level 1 with CPR C are required.
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
