Job Description / Duties
The Apprenticeship will run September 12, 2022 to March 10, 2023.
There will be a two-week unpaid hiatus from November 26th to December 11th 2022.
The Apprenticeship will be an introduction to the workings of a large, unionized prop shop in a regional theatre. The successful candidate will become a permit worker with IATSE Local 828 for the duration of the apprenticeship.
Under the supervision of the Head of Props, the Apprenticeship programme will include constructing props, planning and examining building materials and supporting the rehearsal hall for the Grand Theatre’s season. The Apprentice may be given the opportunity to supervise small projects on occasion. Special emphasis will be given to allowing the apprentice to work on projects to expand and improve their portfolio with the goal of demonstrating skills needed to gain future employment in a professional prop shop.
Qualifications / Required Skills
The candidate will be a graduate of a post-secondary technical theatre program and will have at least 1 year of professional work experience, or equivalent in work experience. The successful candidate will be creative, curious and passionate about theatre and have the ability to work well in a team environment. A portfolio demonstrating skill sets would be an asset.

Salary: $16.55/hour, 40 hours per week
