Job Description / Duties
monstrARTity is currently seeking applicants for the freelance consultant contract position of Production Lead, with availability from May 2. This position will support #BollywoodMonster Mashup, the largest South Asian festival in Canada and rated the #1 festival at Mississauga Celebration Square.
Born in 2011, monstrARTity is an award-winning, Mississauga-based incorporated not-for-profit organization, filling systemic cultural and economic gaps in underserved diverse communities via festivals, interactive workshops for youth & seniors, artist mentorship and youth employment programs.
* This position is a combination of remote work, team conference calls and meetings in Mississauga. Meetings are currently being conducted virtually due to COVID-19. This will be modified according to provincial and Peel Public Health guidelines.*
Duties
Pre-production:
- Contributing to the creation and execution of stage production budgets, stage plots, tech run sheets, backline orders, show run schedules, publishing schedules and other relevant planning documents for #BollywoodMonster Mashup virtual and in-person festival events
- Managing communication and tech advancing processes and ensuring both parties adhere to all contracts/agreements, in regards to performing artists for organization’s festival production days
Production:
- Communicating and delivering on-site logistical requirements (footprint, technical requirements, suppliers, load-in/out times etc) in relation to performing artists’ and groups’ needs
- Supporting and ensuring smooth coordination and execution of #BollywoodMonster Mashup festival stage logistics, including backstage support, performer tech runs, sound checks and performances
- Liaising with performing artists, audio/visual tech production crews, venue coordinators and other external program contacts as necessary
Post-production
- Reconciliation of stage production budget, stage production inventory (audio/visual and tech rentals etc)
- Documentation of production processes and recommendations reporting

- Freelance contractor position
- Earliest start date: May 2, 2022
- Perks: Remote work and flexible hours
- Term: May 2 - Aug 31, 2022. Opportunity for extension can be considered.
- Compensation: $1,000-$2,000/month, negotiated based on experience and time commitment
- Must be able to make mandatory weekly team calls (Tuesdays), team meetings in Mississauga and stakeholder meetings in the Greater Toronto Area as required*
- *Meetings are currently being conducted virtually due to COVID-19. This will be modified according to provincial and Peel Public Health guidelines
- Must have access to own laptop and phone
