Job Description / Duties
This position provides technical services in support of the academic mission of the School of the Arts, Media, Performance and Design, (AMPD), Departments of Dance, Music, Theatre and occasionally the Departments of Design, Film and Visual Arts & Digital Media program. This position oversees technical aspects of load-ins, set-ups, rehearsals, performances, streaming services, and loadouts (strikes). performs and/or monitors maintenance to theatrical systems. performs and/or monitors installation of stage equipment temporarily or permanently and ensures the security of the equipment and facilities. All technical services are provided in a professional manner with an emphasis on exemplary customer service. This position also provides technical services for Internal (York University) and External Clients.
Qualifications / Required Skills
Education:
Community college diploma/program in theatre production or an equivalent of 2 years recent experience (defined as within the last three years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below.
Experience:
Three (3) years related experience (lighting, sound, technical direction) in a professional theatre or university environment In-depth knowledge of aspects of theatre production including stage management, audio, audio recording, communication systems, lighting, audio visual, scenery construction, rigging, flying, projection & display technology, automation and special effects is required. Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act is required. Experience with a variety performance types (Theatre, Music, Dance) is an asset.

Streaming equipment and related softwareDemonstrated computer skills including:
Basic Word-processing (i.e. MS Word)
Basic Spreadsheet software (i.e. MS Excel)
Intermediate Presentation software (i.e. MS PowerPoint)
Email & Calendar, Internet (i.e. Firefox)
CAD software (i.e. Vectorworks) and / or multimedia playback software (i.e. Lab) and / or digital audio software (i.e. Pro Tools) are assets

Please note: This position requires the candidate to produce a verification of degree(s), credentials(s), or equivalencies from accredited institutions and/or international equivalents at the time of interview. Hours of work: For non-event days, normal hours of work are 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. On event days, hours of work will be scheduled on an event-by-event basis (recognizing that some events may span multiple days), with shifts typically falling between the hours of 6:00 am and 12:00 am, although earlier call times or later end times may be required.Summer: Same as aboveRequests to work overtime may occur periodically throughout the yearPeak periods for this position: October, November, January to June.Hours during peak periods: Flexible depending on the needs of facilities and Departments.Vacation restriction: September up to and including November, January up to and including June, vacation may be restricted due to operational requirements and / or other staff-approved absences.
Salary: FTE Annual Salary of:$73,656.00
