Job Description / Duties
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
Possess a complete understanding of the building's event electrical and plumbing limitations and creatively remove any limitations to the client or internal requests within budgetary constraints.
Analyze the operational challenges between event bookings, highlighting interdepartmental awareness, and providing guidance in order to adjust required resources for success.
Create comprehensive and complex event electrical plans that are executed utilizing available resources within event deadlines.
Manage, lead, and oversee a cohesive Event Technician team
ensuring diversity across multiple levels of qualifications, skill sets, and industry experiences.
Resolve any client, exhibitor orders, service complaints or issues.
Qualifications / Required Skills
Full Entertainment (FE) Certification with Field Safety Representative Certification or Journey-person Red Seal Interprovincial Electrical Certification is considered an asset.
Experience in the event industry, venue logistics, operations, build outs and procedures across multiple departments and buildings is preferred.
Leadership experience with a proven ability to motivate and engage with employees.
You demonstrate exceptional communication skills, whether explaining, offering feedback, handling conflict, or sharing a vision. You are able to communicate a clear, simple, and detailed message.
You hold yourself and your team accountable to service excellence through establishing high standards, measuring performance and implementing initiatives of continuous improvement.
You will be able to handle a high-pressure environment that requires fast-paced decision making and strict timelines

The award-winning Vancouver Convention Centre is currently in search of a Manager, Event Technical Services to join our team. The Manager, Event Technical Services is responsible for event electrical, and non-complex plumbing services, a critical component at the Vancouver Convention Centre. This position requires significant analysis and understanding of all venue activities in order to support the department accurately and expediently delivering on service expectations.
