Job Description / Duties

Reporting to the Technical Director, the Lead Technician - Lighting is responsible for delivering high quality lighting production for audiences, renters, and visiting artists in a wide range of live entertainment genres. As the primary board operator in the venue deliver leadership and coordination of work to other stagehands including a designated part-time assistant. This position requires preparation and coordination with the technical director and designate and with visiting production crews. This position is required to maintain lighting and video related equipment and ensure readiness for upcoming events through effective communication with stagehands and management. Required to ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation including guidelines for the live performance industry.

Duties Include:
• Lighting Console operation for events including programming of moving light fixtures
• Lead stagehands assigned to lighting and video on setup, event operation, and tear-down to ensure safe operation of equipment
• Maintain an inventory of all equipment
• Regular maintenance of systems and coordination with Technical Director on arranging repairs and replacement of equipment, including but not limited to soldering of cables
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications / Required Skills

• Graduation from a recognized live entertainment production program or have at least 3 years industry experience
• Familiarity with operation and troubleshooting of lighting and video equipment in inventory at the Sanderson Centre
• Experience in configuration, programming, and operation on a variety of lighting consoles and fixtures in common touring industry use
• Maintain proficiency and familiarity with industry practices.
• Have a current Working at Heights certification.
• Have current Elevated Work Platforms training in the last three years.
• Ability to adhere to strict deadlines
• Medium physical demand
• Hours of work are irregular including long days with overtime, evenings and weekends based on events scheduling.

Salary: 34.00/ hour
