Job Description / Duties
Persephone Theatre, a leading cultural institution in the City of Saskatoon, is looking for a creative and passionate Head of Audio to join our team. This position is directly responsible for the operation and maintenance of stage related audio systems in the Theatre’s two venues, Rawlco Radio Hall, and The Backstage Stage.
Persephone Theatre is looking for an individual who is excited to take on the following responsibilities:
Set up, programming and operation of digital and analog audio consoles
Working with designers, directors, and clients, to realize a production’s audio requirements
Mixing live audio, including vocals and musical instruments
Set up sound reinforcement, including microphones, cable and monitors, for rehearsals and performances for various theatre, opera, meetings, music concerts, dance, variety shows and other rental events.
Operate sound/video equipment, playback; write cues and records events as necessary
Setting up and breaking down all sound equipment;
Maintain audio equipment in good repair;
Maintain a clean and safe work area;
The Audio Technician may be required to assist others in the Technical Department, working on various other aspects of the Theatre’s productions, and related facility maintenance.
Abide by the Theatre’s safe workplace guidelines and rules, including the Code of Conduct and Anti-Discrimination policies.
Carry out any other tasks requested by the TD or PM
Qualifications / Required Skills
Working understanding of all technical aspects of theatre and live events
Experience with Digico Audio Consoles
Proficient in the use of Qlab
Sound design skills are an asset
Good communication skills
Ability to work well under pressure/ deadlines
Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills
Able to work well both independently and collaboratively
Fall Arrest and Aerial Lift training an asset
Understanding of, and experience with video and projection is an asset
Knowledge of basic rigging for theatre is an asset
Knowledge of operation of counterweight fly system is an asset
First Aid training is an asset
Valid Class 5 driving license
Must be a team player, and should have a love of the theatre and the performing arts
Additional Information
As a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be required to become a member of, and maintain good standing in, IATSE local #300.

Salary: Weekly salary is $1,034.40 per week to be paid bi-weekly. This is subject to change once negotiation of the collective bargaining agreement between Persephone and I.A.T.S.E local 300 has concluded. Overtime is governed under the collective agreement and will be calculated as per clause 16.1.5. Comprehensive extended health plan.
