Job Description / Duties
The Arts Club Theatre Company is currently accepting applications for the position of Full-time Head Electrician for the Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage. The Head Electrician will work under the supervision of the Technical Director and will be responsible for implementing the lighting design. The Head Electrician will also be required to act in the same capacity for the Sound department for smaller shows. This is a union position, IATSE 118. This position would start on or about August 19, 2019.
The Head Electrician will be self-motivated, possess good organizational and time management skills, plus have excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations. The ideal candidate will have a calm and flexible outlook and be diplomatic in dealing with crews, cast, stage managers and all other staff.
Supervise, monitor and assist with all aspects of pre-production as it relates to electrics/sound/video
Assist Lighting, Sound and Projection Designers with respective designs and requirements
Assist with build of practicals and special effects
Operate lighting and/or sound/projection control (live and pre-recorded)
Document and track all show-related configuration in cooperation with the designers
Oversee the Stanley Theatre Electrical department inventory, repair and maintenance
Advise and assist with ongoing maintenance, organization and purchasing of consumables
Advise and assist on theatre rentals when required
Assist with occupational safety and health of workers
Assist with building maintenance
Qualifications / Required Skills
Minimum of three (3) years experience as Head Electrician working for a professional theatre company
Experience working in a Fly House and the ability to work at heights and climb ladders
LPEC certificate mandatory; Limited Entertainment (LE) or Full Entertainment (FE) certificate is an asset
Proficiency in programming and running sound control for both live mix and pre-recorded sound and projections (Q-Lab, Isadora)
Experience with IP-based transmission protocols for Sound, Lights and Video
Operation and maintenance of motorized stage equipment control systems
Candidates with experience working with Windows and Apple computer operating systems and computer networking will be given preference
Class 5 Drivers License is preferred
OFA Level 1 certificate
Special Effects Pyrotechnic certificate is an asset
Proficient in programming and operation of computer lighting boards (ETC ION, Grand MA) and all components of the lighting system
Experienced in programming and running sound control for both live mix and pre-recorded sound as well as projection (Q-Lab)
Able to read and understand Lighting Designer plots and associated paperwork. Ability to work under tight time constraints
Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally
Ability to problem solve and think on your feet
Ability to lift heavy objects safely
Able to work at heights
Salary: $28.05 per hour, $28.62 per hour starting September 1, 2019
