Job Description / Duties
Reporting to the Dispatch Supervisor, dispatchers refer casual workers to various employers on a gig-to-gig basis. Dispatchers use the Local’s dispatch database to match workers to gigs based on skillset and seniority, as well as maintain and update this database.
This is a great opportunity for someone who is organized and understands the live entertainment work place, and is looking to fill out their week with some extra hours of work.
Dispatch is a highly dynamic work environment with tight time constraints. Organizational ability is important as Dispatcher must handle many calls simultaneously, while balancing priorities. Dispatchers must remain cool, organized, and effective in what can sometimes be a high-pressure work environment. Occasionally they must manage conflict, and dissatisfied workers and employers, while upholding the Local’s policy and procedures.
Dispatchers will work shifts of up to (8) hours in length and may work on weekends or holidays as needed. Dispatchers will work with the Dispatch Supervisor to determine a schedule that works within their own needs and also provides, between all the Dispatchers, coverage for all of the hours that Dispatch is open (8a to 8p, 7 days a week)
After completing training, the opportunity to work from home exists.
Qualifications / Required Skills
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Legal entitlement to work in Canada
• Professional comportment with excellent client service skills and telecommunication presence
• Strong & independent organizational skills
• Computer proficiency
DESIRABLE ATTRIBUTES
• Ability, training or experience relevant to dispatching
• Familiarity with the live events industry; its departments, job titles, practices, and jargon.
• Willingness to occasionally work weekends, evenings and/or overtime.

Salary: $22/hour plus 6% in lieu of vacation, plus benefits (including H&W and RRSP)
