Job Description / Duties

The Shaw Festival is currently accepting applications for a Boot & Shoe Coordinator position in our Wardrobe Department. This is a seasonal contract position reporting to the Head of Wardrobe.

The position requires an individual with demonstrated footwear experience as a boot and shoe builder or coordinator. This position is responsible for the coordination of our season’s footwear. The position requires the candidate to organize and fit footwear, and is responsible for any alterations to footwear, which may include painting or dying and applying galosh or dance rubber. The incumbent will not be required to build footwear from scratch but may be asked to build gaiters or spats. Knowledge of historical periods is an asset. A valid and clean driver’s license is required.

The successful candidate must be able to work under pressure, meet deadlines, be organized, reliable and accurate and work well as part of a team. A positive attitude and a good sense of humour also help.

Knowledge of Health and Safety compliance is essential.

This is a seasonal position between January and August, plus 6 additional weeks in the fall. The incumbent will have the option and opportunity for off season work in our workshops. This position is paid hourly at $20.00 per hour plus 4% vacation pay.
