Job Title: ATD Lighting / AV / MultiMedia
Reporting to: Executive Producer

Purpose: Reporting to the Executive Producer, the ATD Lighting / AV / MultiMedia is responsible for overseeing the l maintenance and operation of company lighting, special effects, sound, AV, and multimedia technical equipment.
Responsibilities:
Leadership:
Organize and delegate the work in the department for lighting, sound, AV, and special effect requirements.
Coordinate with the Executive Producer requirements for casual crew calls for production preparation and in theatre personnel.
Organize and delegate work within department according to production schedule to regular crew and casual crew as required.
Build & Prepare for Productions:
Maintain a build schedule based on the budget provided by the Executive Producer.
Coordinate maintenance and pre-tour preparation of all theatrical equipment, elements and cartage as required.
Maintain inventory of all lighting, sound, AV, and technical equipment with identification of replacement / repairs or rentals as needed.
Collaborate with the Executive Producer, artistic department personnel, and external designers in the planning and creation of new productions.
Plan and coordinate adaptation of lighting designs for performance venues and execution of documentation required for the designs including: lighting plots, dimmer controls, cue sheets and colour lists.
Installation of lighting plots as provided.
Coordinate rental requirements for equipment.
Assist in load ins / load-outs of production equipment and cartage for touring.
Act as Lighting Board operator at Theatre.
Budgets:
Be responsible for costing of projects as delegated by the Technical Director and keeping projects within budgetary guidelines.
Effectively communicate emergency situations in a timely manner to co-workers and supervisor as required. Completes required documentation in an accurate and timely
Track all expenses including invoices and expenditures for productions with tracking updates provided to the Executive Producer.
Obtain pricing quotes for rentals and materials / supplies as needed.
Administration
Responsible for the organization of information for the sound, AV, lighting, and multimedia functions.
Ensure all paper tech documentation and notes are maintained for productions on SharePoint.
Key Relationships:
Foster productive working relationships with the Designers, Rehearsal Directors, Artistic Director, Production Department, Stage Management, Wardrobe, Project Managers/ Consultants well as with representatives of the School of Alberta Ballet.
Ensure working collaboration with Alberta Ballet administrative
Foster good relations and communication with a variety of interest groups, these include suppliers, IATSE locals, the performing arts industry, and the community at large.
Act always in the best interest of Alberta Ballet in promoting its artistic
Budgetary Duties/Authorizations
Comprehensive budget tracking and financial reporting to the Executive Producer on focus areas.
Qualifications / Required Skills
Strong working knowledge of:
Proven experience in lighting, sound / audio, video, and special effects for the stage with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience working in a performance theatre environment.
Supervisory / leadership experience is an asset.
Project management, organizational, & budgeting skills
Must be fully versed in the operation of all theatrical
Application Experience: Lightwrite, Vectorworks, AutoCAD, ETC Gio would be an asset.
Extensive background in technical theatre, preferably in a variety of
Sound interpersonal, team building skills, and a positive
Valid First Aid, Forklift
WHIMIS Certification
Valid Driver’s License
Must be a full member of IATSE 212 or have sister status with IATSE 212 if from an outside Must be Pink Card eligible.
The successful candidate will be required to complete a Police Background Check.
Working Conditions / physical requirements:
Shift work including regular evening and weekend
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, and speak and hear. The employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Must be prepared to use his or her own personal vehicle for occasional company business and will be reimbursed for such use on a per kilometer basis.
Experience driving 5-ton trucks is considered an
Primarily working at the warehouse when not on site for events/productions. Will be occasionally required to attend meetings at head office.
Additional Information
The position of ATD Lighting / AV / Multimedia is an IATSE management position with days and hours of work to be determined by the Technical Director. This position is subject to the conditions set forth in the IATSE/Alberta Ballet Collective Bargaining Agreements (White and Pink Contracts).
Salary: Min. of $34.00 per hour
