Course Description

As part of the Pre-Conference Workshops being offered at this year's 34th edition of the CITT/ICTS Rendez-Vous Annual Conference & Tradeshow in Saskatoon, GerrAudio will be hosting a 2-day Smaart Operator: Fundamentals training session.

The 2-day Smaart Operator: Fundamentals class will cover the fundamentals of setting up and configuring a Smaart measurement rig and using Smaart v9 to make RTA, Spectrograph, Transfer Function and Impulse Response measurements.

This course begins with an overview of general system measurement theory as well as the operational context in which Smaart is used, namely in Sound System Engineering and Alignment. This course focuses on providing the attendee with a functional knowledge of how Smaart operates as a tool, and then expands into the application of that tool in sound system engineering.

Attendees can expect an immersive hands-on experience showing Smaart v9 being used through various exercises designed to emulate real-world alignment and optimization tasks.

Attendees will need a computer for both days.

Class structure will be a mix of theory and practical application.

Daily Schedule

The course will run from 8AM - 3:30PM (CST) daily. There will be a brief morning break and a boxed lunch will be provided.

Before you arrive

The measurement signals used in the class will be distributed using a Dante audio network. Class attendees must bring a laptop computer with both the latest version of Smaart v9 measurement software and Dante Virtual Soundcard (DVS) installed. A 30-day demo version of Smaart v9 is available online at www.rationalacoustics.com. Dante Virtual Soundcard can be obtained from the Audinate (Dante Virtual Soundcard’s manufacturer) web site at www.audinate.com either by purchase or via a temporary trial installation.
